Ecological & Organic Agriculture Training

Ecological & Organic Agriculture Training

The Zambian organic agriculture network led by Organic Producers & Processors Association of Zambia (OPPAZ), will from 6th May 2023 roll out a Business-Inclined-Organic (BIO) Farming Programme to enable farmers to consistently supply increased volumes of certified quality and safe consumer products. Poor product quality, seasonality, low production and lack product differentiation have been major bottlenecks for farmers to penetrate and maintain lucrative markets.

BIO Farming Programme will culminate in certification of products as either Natural or Organic on the basis of Participatory Guarantee Systems anchored by the Zambian Standard, Organic Farming and Production Code of Practice, ZS 725, 2009. Certified products will be sold at weekend markets provided for within this training program. A parallel program based on International Organic Standards will be implemented to enable organic certification for export markets.

The African Future College has provided the venue for training and selling of the certified products at its Kalingalinga Campus on Alick Nkhata Road in Lusaka. More of such outlets will be setup throughout the country.

OPPAZ has 23 successful years in which it has contributed to establishment of the African Union Coalition of Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative, the African Organic Network, commercialization of Honey production and now the production of Organic Avocados. It enjoys good local, regional and international standing and connections. Plus the unlimited access to personnel, information, knowledge, skills and technological resources, sound connections with offtake markets and potential production partners for equipment and other requisites are the few reasons you need to join us and be part of the pioneers in promoting BIO Farming, setting new horizons for farming in Zambia.
